In our Meet the Experts series, we introduce you to key members of the Interleasing team and shine a spotlight on their expertise. Here we talk to Business Manager Tom Reid.

How long have you been in the fleet industry for?

I’ve been in fleet solutions and asset finance for around three years now. However, I’ve been in the broader automotive industry for 24 years, including as a fully qualified automotive technician as well as working in new and used vehicle sales, apprentice mentoring and Head of Sales and Operations for a national mobile mechanic franchise.

What does your role entail and what excites you about it?

My role is quite diverse as it is blended between new business acquisition and existing client account management. I truly love meeting new people and understanding how their business operates. Aligning Interleasing’s expertise with client’s requirements is really satisfying.

What are some of the challenges that you help solve for clients?

Quite often fleet takes a back seat while organisations focus on core business projects. We partner with clients to assess and identify areas to optimise operating efficiencies, minimise costs and mitigate any risks.

What are the biggest opportunities for fleet managers?

Utilising data and making informed decisions from true insights.

Minimising operating costs and mitigating risks associated with ongoing business mobility.

What makes Interleasing different?

It’s all about the people. Happy people are what drives a high performance and winning culture, and the culture here is what defines Interleasing as an industry leader in business mobility. Our customer-centric partnership approach is genuinely amazing.

What is the biggest opportunity for Interleasing in the coming years?

Definitely in the sustainability space. We have the ability to become an industry leader and trusted advisor to our clients as we transition to an EV environment.

What was your first job?

Messenger newspaper delivery at the age of 12. Somehow, I roped in the whole family to fold and wrap the papers on a Tuesday night ready for Wednesday delivery. I’m pretty sure the pay was only $14 a week!

What inspires you?

My family is definitely my inspiration. Creating a healthy, loving and encouraging home environment inspires me to be the best father and husband that I can be. Like so many parents, this drives me to work hard to provide a comfortable lifestyle for our children to grow.

What’s your proudest achievement while at Interleasing?

Joining the team! From the outset, it was evident that Interleasing was about people. The culture within the business is unique and I believe this is from the people that drive the business. I have felt so welcomed and in a short time feel like I have made many long-lasting relationships within the team, making it so easy to get up and come to work each day.
